Aluminum Casting RFQ Requirements & Checklists
For a comparable aluminum foundry quote, send a controlled drawing, alloy and temper, order quantities, machining scope and acceptance requirements. Use the checklist below to identify missing details before asking suppliers to price the same work.
What should an aluminum casting RFQ include?
- Controlled files: part number, drawing revision, 2D drawing and 3D model; identify unfinished or undecided features.
- Material and process: alloy, temper and specification, or permission for a process recommendation.
- Quantity and timing: sample quantity, planned order size, annual demand, tooling status and requested delivery.
- Supply scope: casting, heat treatment, machining, finish, assembly exclusions and packing requirements.
- Acceptance: critical dimensions, datums, leak or NDT requirements, sampling and documentation.
- Open questions: ask each supplier to list assumptions and exclusions separately from the price.
For technical decisions, review casting tolerances, leak-test methods and supplier certification evidence. If the package is ready, start the RFQ submission.
